The opening of the Asian preliminary qualifiers for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior World Championship.

The Asian preliminary qualifiers for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior World Championship under 14 years old were opened the day before yesterday. The event is organized by the Bahrain Tennis Federation from February 24 to March 1.

A simple opening ceremony for the tournament took place, which included the entry of the participating teams, a speech by the ITF representative for West and Central Asia, Amir Barghi, a speech by Bahrain Tennis Federation Board Member Mohamed Salman, and a speech by Board Member Jamila Al-Nashaba. This was followed by the oath of the tournament for players, coaches, and officials.

The tournament sees participation from 21 Asian countries: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Mongolia, Macau, Maldives, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Guam, as well as Malaysia and Nepal.

The tournament is held in a round-robin format, with the teams divided into seven groups, each consisting of three teams. After the group stage, the quarterfinals and semifinals will follow. The top two teams from the final match will qualify for the final stage of the qualifiers, with the host to be determined at a later date.

Our national team was drawn into Group 4 along with Turkmenistan and Syria. The Bahrain tennis team started their journey in the tournament with a challenging match against Turkmenistan, losing 3-0.

In other matches held today on the courts of the Bahrain Tennis Federation, Yemen defeated Guam 2-1 in Group 1.

In Group 2, Jordan won against Mongolia 3-0.

In Group 3, Bangladesh defeated Nepal 3-0, while in Group 5, Macau won against Lebanon 2-1.

In Group 6, Malaysia won against the Maldives 3-0, while Oman triumphed over the UAE 2-1 in Group 7.
